Overview
PolePilot is a powerful companion module within IKE Office Pro, leveraging IKE Insight’s advanced AI and machine learning to automatically detect wires, equipment, and heights of attachment (HOA) in IKEphotos.
It streamlines pole analysis by automatically presenting users with heights of attachment and intuitive object mask overlays. These visual cues highlight the most critical components on a pole, helping users quickly identify key elements. Additionally, PolePilot intelligently assists with auto-arranging annotations, simplifying the workflow, reducing manual effort, and improving accuracy and consistency.
How does it work?
To begin using PolePilot detections and object masks in IKE Office Pro, the feature must first be enabled for your organization by ikeGPS.
Once enabled:
Upload workflow – The process follows the standard job and pole collection upload procedure in IKE Office Pro.
Automatic processing – When field data is uploaded from an IKE Device, the collections are automatically sent for AI processing.
Image types analyzed – Only IKEphoto captures are analyzed. Tag Photos and other capture types (such as A and B vector images) are not included in processing.
Results availability – Uploaded data appears immediately in IKE Office Pro. PolePilot detections and object masks are generated after processing and will be available within 12 hours (often much sooner).
Available Objects for PolePilot
In its initial release, PolePilot can automatically identify a set of key pole attributes from IKEphoto captures. These detections provide users with both visual markers and mask overlays to highlight important objects on the pole.
Objects detected in the initial release include:
Power lines
Communication lines
Span guys
Transformers
Streetlights
Pole tip
Pole base
IKE base offset stick
Heights of Attachment (HOA):
Heights of attachment are displayed as purple markers on processed IKEphotos, making it easy to quickly identify the vertical placement of equipment and wires.
Mask Overlays:
PolePilot uses color-coded object masks to visually distinguish different types of equipment:
All wires (power and communication): Red mask
Streetlights: Yellow mask
Transformers: Orange mask
Additional object detection capabilities are under continuous development and will be made available in future updates, further expanding PolePilot’s ability to assist with pole analysis.
