Product: IKE PoleForeman
Topic: Database Management – Crossarms & Alley Arms
Overview
If your organization has updated engineering spec sheets and needs to reflect new moment ratings for Crossarms or Alley Arms, you can edit these values directly in the IKE Structural Portal — no ticket required, as long as you have the Database Admin Role assigned in IKE Access.
Who Can Do This?
Only users with the Database Admin Role can edit component entries and publish database updates to field users. If you're not sure whether you have this role, check with your organization's IKE Access administrator.
Steps to Update Moment Ratings
- Log in to the IKE Structural Portal: https://portal.structural.ikegps.com/
- Go to the relevant component category. Crossarms are typically listed under Brackets — search by part number (e.g., TB2000 series for 8' and 10' arms).
- Find the Crossarm or Alley Arm entry you want to update.
- Open the entry and edit the moment rating values.
- Save your changes.
- Create and publish a new database version to push the updates to all users in your organization.
How Moment Ratings Are Calculated
Moment ratings are based on manufacturer strength ratings — for example, PUPI ratings for fiberglass arms — with a 50% allowable applied to arrive at the working moment rating. For custom databases, ratings are usually set to match your organization's Legacy database values to keep structural analysis results consistent.
Can't Find a Component?
If a Crossarm or Alley Arm isn't showing up in your database (for example, a 5'6" arm used for transformers, cutouts, lightning arrestors, or terminations), check the Master Catalog first. If it's there, it can be added to your custom database.
If it's not in the Master Catalog at all, contact IKE Support and include:
- The specific component(s) you need
- The required values or edits
IKE Support will loop in your account manager to assess whether the item can be added. Depending on the complexity, involvement from the IKE Structural Team may carry a service fee.
Still Need Help?
Reach out through the support portal or contact your account manager directly for anything involving Master Catalog additions or structural team review.
