Overview
When launching IKE PoleForeman, a pop-up window appears to check for updates and the application fails to fully load. This issue is typically caused by a corrupted or problematic local application file and can be resolved by deleting the affected file and reinstalling the application.
Symptoms
- A window appears on startup checking for updates, but PoleForeman does not proceed to load.
- The application fails to open or reach the login screen after the update check window appears.
- The issue persists even after attempting a standard reinstall of IKE PoleForeman.
Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
- Uninstall IKE PoleForeman from your computer using the standard uninstall process (Windows Settings > Apps).
- Navigate to the local application data folder. Because this folder is hidden, type the following path directly into the Windows File Explorer address bar and press Enter: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\ikeGPS\IKE PoleForeman
- Delete the remaining application files in that folder.
- Reinstall IKE PoleForeman by downloading the latest installer and running it.
- Launch PoleForeman and verify that the application loads normally to the login screen.
Additional Notes
If you are unable to locate the AppData folder, it may be hidden by default. To show hidden folders in Windows File Explorer, go to View > Show > Hidden items (Windows 11) or View > Hidden items (Windows 10). Alternatively, typing %localappdata% directly into the File Explorer address bar will navigate to the AppDataLocal folder automatically.
If the issue continues after following these steps, please contact IKE Support for further assistance.
